2. Hosting and server logs

GoYeti is hosted on an OVHcloud server. When the website is accessed, the web server processes technically necessary connection data. This may include the IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, HTTP status, referrer and browser identifier.

Processing is carried out to provide the service securely and reliably, analyse errors and prevent attacks. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the secure operation of this information service. Web server logs are rotated regularly and deleted after 14 days unless a security incident requires longer retention.

3. Language and display preferences

When you select a language, GoYeti stores the choice in the technically necessary firemap_language cookie for up to one year. Theme and text-size preferences are stored under goyeti.appearance.v1 solely in your browser's local storage. This information is not used for advertising or user profiles and is not transmitted to the GoYeti server.

Storage enables the display you explicitly requested. It is performed under Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG; where personal data is processed, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can delete the cookie and local storage at any time in your browser settings.

4. Maps and technical libraries

On pages containing a map, your browser loads map tiles from the OpenStreetMap Foundation. In particular, your IP address and technical request information are transmitted to its servers.

Leaflet and Lucide are currently loaded through the unpkg.com content delivery network for map functions and icons. The CDN operator receives technically necessary connection data such as IP address, time, requested file and browser identifier. This integration provides a functional and consistent display on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

5. Event data and external sources

Hazard, weather, climate and news data is retrieved automatically by the GoYeti server from the stated sources. Your IP address is not transmitted to these data sources during server-side retrieval. The respective provider's privacy terms apply only when you open an external source link.

Press images and videos that cannot be freely embedded are not loaded from third-party servers and are only linked to their original page. Freely licensed or expressly authorised media may be served locally from the GoYeti server.

6. Contact

If you contact us by email, your information is processed to handle the request. Depending on its subject, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. Messages are deleted once the request has been resolved and no statutory retention obligation or legitimate reason for further storage applies.

7. No analytics or advertising services

GoYeti currently uses no audience analytics, personalised advertising, social-media plugins or cross-site tracking. There are no public user accounts and no newsletter.

8. Your rights

Subject to the legal requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

This privacy notice is updated when functions, external services or legal requirements change. The version published on this page applies.
